Heatherton's History

scroll down

Heathertonians know what it means to belong to a close knit family such as ours, nestled away in a quiet corner of leafy Chesham Bois. Ever since our founding in 1912, we have created a community where timeless traditions and new innovations combine to fuel children’s imaginations and energies.

In August 2011 Heatherton became a member of the Berkhamsted Schools Group and this new partnership brings added benefits. Pupils now enjoy the delights of a ‘small school’ with the advantage of having access to ‘large school’ facilities and specialist staff. Joint activities and sports have followed and ambitious plans lie ahead.

2012 marked Heatherton’s centenary year. In true Heatherton spirit, we celebrated with current and former pupils and their families. Many traditions were celebrated, beginning with the greatest of all – a commitment to excellence in education. The girls savoured a 1912 School Day, a Centenary Celebration Day and Gala Concert and we opened our doors during a fabulous Art and DT Exhibition to the local community.

In September 2015, Heatherton once again opened its Nursery doors to boys – the start of a new chapter for the forward-thinking school.
